Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +6 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and develop AI-driven functionalities throughout the entire ClickHouse Cloud platform stack.

• Construct backend inference services alongside user-friendly frontend interfaces.

• Develop robust and scalable APIs that link ClickHouse database capabilities with AI/ML inference systems and both external and internal AI services.

• Execute and sustain integrations with the wider AI/ML ecosystem and adhere to established standards.

• Incorporate models into production systems with features like monitoring, versioning, observability, and evaluation.

• Take part in the daytime on-call rotation.

• Manage the ML pipeline comprehensively, including data handling, training, and evaluation.

• Fine-tune or train custom models when standard models do not meet requirements.

• Stay updated on cutting-edge advancements and implement enhancements that benefit ClickHouse products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience in production settings.

• Direct experience working with AI/ML technologies.

• Proven experience integrating and deploying AI/ML models in production environments.

• Familiarity with working on inference APIs and vector databases.

• Capability to drive features from concept to production with minimal oversight.

• Ability to excel in collaborative settings and convey technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Practical ML experience in Python, including tools like Jupyter, PyTorch, and common ML libraries.

• Experience with compute clusters such as Ray and Slurm.

• Competence in designing reliable experiments to inform architectural decisions.

• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP, especially in AI/ML deployment services (preferred).

• Understanding of database systems and data processing pipelines; experience with ClickHouse is advantageous (preferred).

• Background in embedding-based systems, including retrieval, ranking, recommenders, and representation learning (preferred).
