This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Conduct independent reviews of legal documents and litigation correspondence to calculate, record, and distribute docket dates.
• Review court dockets as necessary.
• Confirm jurisdiction, court/venue, relevant authorities, and calculated dates.
• Adjust deadlines in accordance with federal, state, statutory, agency, and local rules and practices.
• Input litigation deadlines into Milana, the firm’s litigation docketing system.
• Provide proactive assistance to litigation teams and collaborate with docketing attorneys.
• Perform quality reviews of your own work following internal protocols and escalate queries to the Litigation Docketing Manager and docketing attorneys.
• Support inter-department training focused on research and interpretation of court rules.
• Conduct quality reviews of Docketing Specialists’ work products.
• Address inquiries from litigation teams regarding docketed events, deadlines, and court rules.
• Prepare and distribute regular docket reports and additional reports as requested.
• Research court rules for assigned jurisdictions and present findings to case teams.
• Maintain and enhance processes and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
• Recommend enhancements to docketing procedures and workflows.
• Promote and ensure adherence to firm docketing policies, procedures, best practices, and workflows.
• Over 5 years of experience in docketing, specifically in computing deadlines across federal, state, and agency court jurisdictions.
• Proficient with rules-based docketing systems.
• Experience with Milana is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of litigation docketing processes within a law firm.
• Familiarity with procedural rules in federal and state courts.
• Proven understanding of the litigation lifecycle.
• Dependable and detail-oriented.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, time management, and technical skills.
• Highly motivated and proactive with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to exercise independent and professional judgment.
• Excellent customer service skills and capability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Capacity to identify issues, draw valid conclusions, present them clearly and concisely, and develop and implement solutions.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
• Availability to work from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Pacific Time, regardless of work location.
