Claims Building Damage Adjuster – BC, AB

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Manage residential insurance claims primarily through telephone communication using the online claims processing system.

• Receive assignments within your authority, initiate first contact, and collect loss information.

• Collaborate with customers and contractors to repair or replace damaged property.

• Establish reserves and maintain an effective follow-up system.

• Obtain telephone statements and analyze coverage details.

• Prepare opening and closing loss summaries while keeping notes up to date.

• Request payments as necessary.

• Identify policies that need underwriting reviews.

• Review the claims process and assist customers in submitting necessary information.

• Assess claim coverage and clarify decisions to clients.

• Acquire, evaluate, and approve contractor quotations.

• Help with the scheduling and repair or replacement of lost or damaged property.

• Negotiate settlements, coordinate payments, and conclude claims.

• Maintain knowledge through ongoing training and industry updates.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in building damage adjusting, specifically with water damage claims.

• At least 1 year of employment with a recent employer.

• A high school diploma is required.

• Some post-secondary education is preferred.

• A CIP or GIE designation, or progress towards one of these qualifications.

• A Level 1 or 2 BC or AB adjusting license, or the education and experience necessary to qualify for one immediately.

• Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.

• Strong communication, active listening, and questioning skills.

• Conflict resolution skills are essential.

• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Capability to receive and implement constructive feedback.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
