Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design, operate, and enhance Kubernetes-based platforms on a large scale.

• Oversee the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, including ingress controllers, service meshes, and cert-manager.

• Create and maintain Helm charts or Kustomize configurations.

• Automate and manage platform configurations using Terraform and Helm.

• Architect and manage CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, preferably utilizing ArgoCD.

• Develop automation workflows and platform tooling with Go, Python, or Bash.

• Design and implement observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

• Establish SLI/SLO frameworks for distributed systems.

• Integrate security standards and compliance requirements within platform architectures.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to infrastructure roadmaps.

• Mentor team members and support their technical development.

• Engage with multinational teams and clearly communicate technical information.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in DevOps or infrastructure-related positions.

• Minimum of 1+ year of practical daily production experience with Kubernetes.

• Experience in managing Kubernetes cluster lifecycles, ingress controllers, service meshes, and cert-manager.

• Proven experience in writing and maintaining Helm charts or Kustomize configurations.

• Hands-on experience with OKD or OpenShift.

• Strong expertise in Terraform and Helm.

• Experience in designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, ideally with ArgoCD.

• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash.

• In-depth knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

• Experience in designing and implementing SLI/SLO frameworks for distributed systems.

• Familiarity with security standards, platform security best practices, and compliance requirements.

• Experience working collaboratively across cross-functional teams and mentoring peers.

• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

• Comfort in working within multinational teams.

• Very good written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Kubernetes certifications like CKA, CKAD, or CKS are advantageous.

• Experience with Ansible is a plus.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.

• Multi-cluster Kubernetes experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with SCCs, CVO, MCO, OLM, OKD Routes, OVN-Kubernetes networking, network policy design, Longhorn or similar storage solutions, Kubernetes Operators, Operator SDK, or Kubebuilder is a plus.

• Experience in writing ADRs, runbooks, and platform design documentation is a plus.
