Senior Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Engage directly with intricate and established Java applications along with enterprise-level codebases.

• Examine and reverse-engineer current systems to gain insights into architecture, dependencies, business logic, and technical limitations.

• Utilize AI-driven development tools for tasks such as code generation, analysis, refactoring, testing, and documentation.

• Implement structured AI development methodologies, which include reverse engineering, Spec-Driven Development (SDD), and automated test generation.

• Refactor and modernize existing Java applications by eliminating or substituting legacy dependencies and outdated elements.

• Create and enhance automated tests to ensure safe modernization and refactoring processes.

• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to convert requirements and existing system functionalities into maintainable technical solutions.

• Assist in establishing efficient, repeatable AI-assisted development practices across engineering teams.

• Uphold high standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and software engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with CI&T, a technology transformation firm dedicated to helping large enterprises convert AI potential into tangible business outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive Java development experience, particularly within enterprise settings and complex existing systems.

• Strong practical experience in Java application development, maintenance, refactoring, and modernization.

• A minimum of 3 months of hands-on experience using Copilot as the primary AI code-generation tool in a team project, OR at least 6 months of practical experience with similar AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, or equivalent.

• Practical experience with shared, structured AI development workflows, especially in reverse engineering and/or Spec-Driven Development (SDD).

• Hands-on experience employing AI-assisted workflows for test generation.

• Practical experience in refactoring existing Java systems to eliminate or replace legacy dependencies.

• Strong capability to understand and navigate unfamiliar and complex codebases.

• Solid foundation in software engineering principles, including clean code, automated testing, version control, and collaborative development practices.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.

• Experience with Java 17 and Java 21 is advantageous.

• Familiarity with SQL relational databases is a plus.

• Knowledge of NoSQL databases is an additional benefit.
