Senior IT Security Engineer

📋 Description

• Oversee security monitoring, detection engineering, incident response, and the engineering of security systems.

• Analyze intricate alerts and manage significant security incidents.

• Create and refine detection capabilities utilizing various telemetry sources.

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across enterprise technology landscapes.

• Recognize vulnerabilities and drive effective remediation efforts.

• Develop sustainable automation and system integrations to minimize repetitive tasks.

• Provide guidance to stakeholders regarding architecture, access management, and security exceptions.

• Contribute to the formulation of security policies and guidelines.

• Enhance security awareness through measurable insights.

• Manage relationships with security vendors.

• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing.

• Shape security strategy and make risk-based decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience in IT security engineering or security operations, with a focus on leading complex investigations and high-impact incident responses.

• Strong background in detection engineering across SIEM, IDS, and various security telemetry sources.

• Experience in developing, enhancing, and tuning security detections to broaden coverage and minimize false positives.

• Practical experience in architecting, implementing, and supporting security controls within complex IT environments.

• Familiarity with vulnerability management, security assessments, and the remediation of technical vulnerabilities.

• Ability to create maintainable scripts, automation workflows, and system integrations.

• Solid technical judgment in evaluating security risks related to access management, exceptions, architecture, and technology choices.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven experience in producing security policies, technical guidance, and communications targeted at senior stakeholders.

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers, providing specialized security consultancy, and developing technical documentation or knowledge-sharing resources.

• Experience in enhancing security awareness utilizing metrics, data, and feedback from stakeholders.

• Background in managing security vendors, including product evaluation, due diligence, account management, and renewals.

• Ability to gain expertise in unfamiliar technologies, comprehend emerging vulnerabilities and attack techniques, and translate that knowledge into actionable security improvements.

• Proactive, analytical, and collaborative mindset towards security engineering and continuous enhancement.
