This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Establish and manage Leave of Absence, Voluntary Disability, Paid Family Leave, Short Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability claims in accordance with TRISTAR ICS protocols.
β’ Operate effectively with minimal supervision and exercise discretion regarding the need for supervisory input.
β’ Provide backup support or assist the supervisor with administrative responsibilities.
β’ Mentor and train fellow staff members while acting as a technical resource.
β’ Oversee, monitor, and assess eligibility for job-protected leaves including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and PLOA.
β’ Offer guidance to clients and staff on leave requirements, regulations, company benefits, and internal leave policies.
β’ Process disability and paid family leave claims following established procedures.
β’ Collaborate with the relevant carrier to coordinate insured programs.
β’ Maintain strong relationships with clients and employees to achieve customer service objectives.
β’ Manage check-cycle payments and related procedures.
β’ Facilitate return-to-work strategies with claimants, providers, and clients.
β’ Respond to telephone claim inquiries from claimants, clients, and carriers within 24 hours.
β’ Deliver exceptional customer service.
β’ Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
β’ Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
β’ Over 5 years of prior experience in Leave of Absence and/or related disability fields.
β’ At least one year of experience in an administrative office setting (preferred).
β’ Organized, with the capability to accurately document files.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of Federal and Statutory regulations pertaining to FMLA, CFRA, and PDL.
β’ Ability to understand and integrate VDI, STD, and VDI benefits.
β’ Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, and Web tools.
β’ Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees, supervisors, and external providers.
β’ Capacity to educate and advise on sensitive and complex matters.
β’ Strong planning and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
β’ Competence in solving practical problems and interpreting written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
β’ Understanding of Disability Plan Documents, SOC, and ERISA Guidelines.
β’ CPDM certification preferred.
