Senior Inpatient Coding Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct audits of inpatient medical record documentation to assess the accuracy of both principal and secondary diagnoses, including MCCs and CCs, as well as procedure codes.

• Verify the assignment and sequencing of ICD-10 codes, discharge status, Hospital-Acquired Conditions, POA assignment, and DRG assignment.

• Comply with official coding guidelines, Coding Clinic recommendations, and regulatory requirements.

• Leverage advanced ICD-10 coding expertise to support audit conclusions.

• Employ proprietary auditing systems to record audit findings and the rationale behind them.

• Meet productivity and quality performance metrics set by management.

• Cross-train to conduct reviews of various claim types.

• Support management in training new Coding Auditors by providing monitoring, mentoring, feedback, and education.

• Stay updated on coding guidelines and fulfill required CEUs to retain coding certification.

• Participate in training sessions and scheduled meetings to improve knowledge of clinical policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possession of one or more active professional credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (CPC, CCS, COC, RHIA, RHIT); mandatory.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in inpatient medical record coding and/or auditing; mandatory.

• Proven expertise in medical record auditing.

• Strong proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, APC, ASC, HCPCS, and CPT coding methodologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of APR-DRG, AP-DRG, and MS-DRG systems.

• Competence in computer skills and typing.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet browsers, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

• Capability to work remotely within the U.S.
