Senior II Platform Engineer Lead – Akamai Inference Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and execution of key platform components for Akamai Inference Cloud.

• Influence technical choices related to tools, frameworks, and architectural strategies for platform services.

• Manage platform functionalities including authentication, load balancing, rate limiting, firewall integration, and publicly accessible API patterns.

• Design and enhance data plane APIs, including interfaces compatible with OpenAI.

• Establish and enhance observability through metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, and operational diagnostics.

• Spearhead capacity planning and scalability strategies for traffic, models, and regional deployments.

• Lead Kubernetes-based orchestration methodologies for containerized platform workloads.

• Mentor and support engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem-solving.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced expertise in distributed systems, cloud services, and platform engineering.

• Extensive experience in building and managing internet-facing platform services such as API gateways, ingress layers, reverse proxies, or service infrastructure.

• Advanced knowledge of cloud-native architectures, including containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.

• Proven track record in developing scalable, high-performance systems utilizing modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Technical leadership experience guiding engineers, enhancing code quality, and delivering solutions for complex platform challenges.

• Experience in designing and operating API platforms, focusing on authentication, authorization, traffic management, and service protection strategies.

• Comprehensive knowledge in observability, monitoring, alerting, and debugging processes for large-scale distributed systems.

• Experience with capacity planning, performance analysis, and reliability engineering for production services.
