πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Offer expertise in human factors engineering throughout the testing and evaluation lifecycle of CBRN detection systems.

β€’ Ensure that operator interfaces, workflows, and system designs facilitate safe, accurate, and efficient use by first responders and other end users.

β€’ Integrate human performance data into planning and reporting for test and evaluation.

β€’ Assess usability and workload during both developmental and operational testing phases.

β€’ Provide guidance to Product Management Offices regarding design or training modifications to minimize operator errors and enhance mission effectiveness.

β€’ Lead analyses and evaluations concerning human factors, including usability assessments, workload analysis, task analysis, and human-system interface evaluations.

β€’ Incorporate findings into master plans for test and evaluation and reports to aid in acquisition decision-making.

β€’ Design and implement human-in-the-loop test events at both government and contractor facilities.

β€’ Engage in Test Readiness Reviews, Deficiency Review Boards, and Operational Readiness Reviews.

β€’ Analyze data related to operator errors, near-miss and incident reports, and system alarm/alert designs.

β€’ Suggest design, training, or procedural improvements to Product Management Offices and engineering teams.

β€’ Collaborate with systems engineers and program stakeholders to ensure that human factors requirements are traceable, testable, and reflected in relevant documents, such as requirements documents, ICDs, and Systems Engineering Plans.

β€’ Consistently adhere to DHS MD 102-01 and Directive 026-06.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial/Systems Engineering, or a related field.

β€’ At least 8 years of experience in human factors engineering.

β€’ Experience in supporting test and evaluation programs for DoD or DHS.

β€’ Direct experience with detection, sensor, or screening equipment is highly desirable.

β€’ Proven experience in conducting usability testing, task analysis, workload assessments, and evaluations of human-system interfaces for complex operational equipment.

β€’ Working knowledge of human systems integration practices within federal acquisition test and evaluation frameworks.

β€’ Strong technical writing abilities for the human factors sections of test plans, master plans for test and evaluation, and test reports.

β€’ Capability to present findings to non-human factors technical and leadership audiences.

β€’ Must be a U.S. Citizen.

β€’ Possession of an active Secret clearance is required.

β€’ A Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.

β€’ Previous experience with CBRN detection technologies or CWMD/FEMA programs is particularly advantageous.

β€’ Certifications such as Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP) or equivalent are preferred.

β€’ Experience with front-line operator populations and field-based data collection is preferred.

β€’ Familiarity with data anomaly detection or alarm design for automated or algorithmic detection systems is preferred.
