IT Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical discovery process, evaluate existing environments, determine requirements, and design solutions for clients.

• Develop and execute projects across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows, Azure, macOS, Apple device management, identity, collaboration, and endpoint platforms.

• Collaborate with project managers on technical estimates, dependencies, resource requirements, progress tracking, risks, and obstacles.

• Identify changes that impact scope, budget, or delivery timelines.

• Carry out migrations, deployments, integrations, configuration modifications, and modernization initiatives.

• Implement change-management processes, coordinate maintenance windows and approvals, and ensure solutions are validated before finalization.

• Design and deploy production-ready workflows and automations utilizing AI assistance.

• Utilize scripting, APIs, and workflow tools to integrate systems and data, automating repetitive processes.

• Diagnose complex issues in Microsoft and Mac environments.

• Work in partnership with project managers, service delivery, security, engineering teams, and client stakeholders.

• Create technical documentation, implementation records, training materials, and handoff documentation.

• Track time entries and maintain project records.

• Offer post-implementation stabilization support and transition solutions to service delivery.

• Suggest improvements and standardize reusable designs and automations across various clients.

• Engage in after-hours implementations, cutovers, and maintenance windows as necessary.

• Make occasional client-site visits and travel as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three years of experience as a Project Engineer.

• Proven experience managing technical tasks within a project scope, including planning activities, estimating effort, monitoring progress, meeting deadlines, and communicating dependencies, risks, and obstacles.

• Experience in delivering client-facing IT projects within an MSP or similar multi-client setting.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft and Mac ecosystems, covering Windows and macOS administration, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, identity and endpoint management, migrations, security controls, cloud or hybrid environments, and at least one Apple management platform such as Addigy or Jamf.

• Practical experience in developing production automations and AI workflows using PowerShell, Python, APIs, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar tools.

• Understanding of testing, support, governance, and platform limitations.

• Ability to convert business needs into technical specifications, assess trade-offs and implementation risks, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong skills in documentation and the ability to work independently.

• Capacity to coordinate effectively across multiple time zones with project managers, technical and engineering teams, clients, and internal groups.

• Preferable experience with PSA/RMM platforms such as ConnectWise Manage, NinjaOne, or similar MSP tools.

• Preferable experience with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI services, or similar enterprise AI platforms.

• Preferable experience with Microsoft Graph, Apple Business Manager, Autopilot, and cross-platform endpoint deployment.

• Preferable experience regarding security, compliance, or governance requirements in regulated client environments.

• Relevant Microsoft or Apple certifications, or a portfolio showcasing delivered engineering and automation projects.
