This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Plan, design, and implement both functional and automated testing for contemporary applications, with an emphasis on quality, security, performance, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with Product, Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) teams.
• Lead sprint, release, and project planning by determining testing scope, risks, environments, test data, and tools.
• Convert business and technical requirements into test strategies, plans, and comprehensive functional, integration, regression, performance, and security test cases.
• Review requirements and create test cases, scripts, and data for workflows, edge cases, and error handling scenarios.
• Conduct functional, manual, and exploratory testing, documenting results with reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
• Develop and sustain automated unit, API, integration, and UI tests in alignment with team frameworks and coding standards.
• Validate event- and message-driven services and distributed workflows, including Apache Kafka message-queue systems.
• Test API-centric and cloud-ready architectures, encompassing microservices and serverless applications.
• Log, monitor, and retest defects; engage in defect triage and root-cause analysis.
• Adhere to secure testing and data-handling protocols and escalate any security or privacy issues.
• Contribute to CI/CD testing by executing automated suites, analyzing results, and sustaining test automation.
• Maintain test plans, evidence, dashboards, and runbooks to ensure auditable, operationally ready releases.
• Implement observability principles, including logs, metrics, and alerts, to facilitate troubleshooting and enhance coverage.
• Utilize AI-assisted development and testing tools to expedite test creation and analysis while adhering to quality and security standards.
• Perform additional assigned duties that support delivery, quality, and operational goals.
• A degree from an accredited College/University in a relevant field is preferred.
• Over 8 years of experience in software quality assurance/control, software development, and/or a related field.
• Proven experience working within Agile delivery teams and applying Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Familiarity with change/configuration management and lifecycle tooling (such as VersionOne, ServiceNow) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices.
• Practical experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (for instance: Docker, Kubernetes), including security and environmental considerations.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes security practices and testing within containerized production-like environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development/testing tools like OpenCode, Claude Code, and Gemini Vertex AI to enhance efficiency in test creation and analysis (within established governance).
• Extensive experience in testing software applications, documenting defects, and collaborating with developers and end users to resolve issues.
• Significant experience with various defect tracking tools (e.g., Rational, Mercury).
• Experience in producing test evidence and documentation suitable for audit or compliance evaluations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a US Citizen or possess permanent residency status (Green Card).
• Must be eligible to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
• Must have resided in the United States for the last 5 years.
• Cannot have spent more than 6 months outside the United States in the last 5 years, excluding Military Service.
