This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Develop and enhance backend services and APIs that facilitate basketball scorekeeping, statistics, and postgame experiences.
β’ Expand current endpoints and systems to support new product features, including postgame editing capabilities.
β’ Create web functionalities that provide access to basketball box scores and statistics for coaches, families, and fans.
β’ Take ownership of technical design and implementation, making architectural choices that align with existing systems and product requirements.
β’ Collaborate with mobile engineers to enhance backend functionalities that support both iOS and Android applications.
β’ Work together with product, design, and engineering teams across the Hoops, Stats & Insights, and Gameday divisions.
β’ Produce well-tested and maintainable code while improving system reliability and performance.
β’ Share technical expertise through code reviews and mentoring opportunities.
β’ Contribute to patterns and tools that enable engineers to work more efficiently.
β’ Report directly to the Basketball Engineering Manager.
β’ Proven experience in delivering backend services and APIs in a production environment.
β’ Solid understanding of software engineering principles and practices.
β’ Proficiency in building applications using TypeScript and Node.js.
β’ Experience in developing web features utilizing React.
β’ Background in extending existing systems and writing scalable, high-performance code.
β’ Deep expertise in backend development.
β’ Capability to independently design technical solutions and lead projects from initial requirements through to implementation and release.
β’ Experience working collaboratively with product, design, and engineering teams.
β’ Proven track record of mentoring peers and contributing to technical decision-making.
β’ A passion for sports and products that support them.
β’ Familiarity with basketball, scorekeeping, or sports statistics is advantageous.
β’ Must reside in the United States; candidates from AK, DE, HI, IA, LA, MS, MT, OK, and SC are not eligible for hire.
β’ Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
β’ Must be at least 18 years old.
β’ Option to work remotely across the US or from a modern office located in Manhattan, NY.
