This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
β’ Design and sustain web-based applications and systems utilizing contemporary technologies.
β’ Create solutions within small, feature-oriented teams.
β’ Guide team members and junior/mid-level developers through mentorship.
β’ Collaborate with data scientists, DevSecOps engineers, product designers, and other personnel.
β’ Actively participate in the Agile development methodology.
β’ Conduct code reviews and provide insightful feedback to uphold codebase and product standards.
β’ Engage with both front-end and back-end systems, including React and Express.js services.
β’ Outline database migrations, craft queries, mutations, and resolvers, and link backend services to external APIs.
β’ Create solutions for clients within the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of State, and the national security sector.
β’ Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for a DoD Secret clearance.
β’ Associate's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and/or equivalent experience in the industry as a Software Engineer.
β’ Strong foundational programming skills.
β’ Understanding of SOLID design principles.
β’ Ability to quickly read and comprehend unfamiliar code.
β’ Capability to produce high-quality, readable code and tests.
β’ Senior-level expertise in React frontend application development, encompassing functional components, hooks, state management, component and rendering lifecycles, CSS-in-JS styling, and component-driven development.
β’ Senior-level proficiency with Express.js, GraphQL, REST, and at least one ORM (Drizzle, TypeORM, Knex, or Sequelize).
β’ Comfortable with defining database migrations, writing queries, mutations, and resolvers, and connecting Express.js services to external APIs.
β’ Senior-level experience with TypeScript, including utility types, interfaces, and understanding compile-time versus runtime typing.
β’ Proficiency in Git VCS and GitFlow, covering branching, merging, release candidates, and hotfixes.
β’ Capability to conduct comprehensive code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
β’ Active Secret clearance is a plus.
β’ Residing in or willing to relocate to the DC area and work in a hybrid on-site capacity is optional.
β’ Preferred: Familiarity with Agile methodologies, especially Scrum.
β’ Preferred: Acquaintance with real-time geospatial data visualization and streaming technologies.
β’ Preferred: Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
β’ Preferred: Experience in Spectrum or RF engineering, undergraduate-level physics, or a demonstrated ability to quickly grasp complex technical subjects.
β’ Preferred: Experience working with product design teams, data scientists/engineers, ISSOs, and government stakeholders.
β’ Preferred: AWS Cloud Developer-level experience, including CI/CD, containers, networking, managed services, and high-security production environments.
