Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +20 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Afresh's account leader and customer technical teams to define and design project scope, including data sources, architecture, and production pathways.

• Integrate with customer data and engineering teams both remotely and on-site.

• Connect with customer cloud and data platforms.

• Develop production-quality pipelines and transform complex enterprise data into reliable data products.

• Design and deliver production-ready systems powered by LLMs and agents, including retrieval mechanisms, agent-driven workflows, data quality agents, and analytics agents.

• Strengthen field solutions into the shared platform, encompassing knowledge graphs, ontologies, retrieval systems, agent frameworks, and serving infrastructure.

• Create evaluations, tracking systems, and tools to assess accuracy, hallucination rates, latency, and costs.

• Develop user-friendly interfaces and reusable components instead of one-off customer solutions.

• Incorporate field insights into the platform and leverage platform enhancements for future clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in developing production software and data systems, with a focus on robust, production-grade coding.

• Ability to navigate ambiguous challenges and complex data environments to design effective solutions and implement them.

• Deep understanding of AI/LLM, including hands-on experience with LLMs and agents, retrieval/RAG, and tool utilization.

• Proven experience in assessing AI/LLM quality.

• Strong background in data engineering, including the construction and management of data pipelines and the modeling of complex enterprise data.

• Familiarity with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, or equivalents.

• Capability to collaborate directly with customer engineering and data teams.

• Willingness to travel to customer locations on a regular basis (approximately 10-20%).

• This position does not qualify for company sponsorship.

• Experience in grocery, retail, or supply chain data domains is a plus.

• Knowledge of knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic layers, graph/vector stores, hybrid search, MCP, agent frameworks, MLOps, model serving, and LLM observability is advantageous.

• Prior experience in forward-deployed solutions, implementation engineering, or at an early-stage startup is desirable.
