
Senior Fire Investigator – IAAI-CFI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct thorough and independent investigations to establish the origin and cause of fires and explosions, focusing on structures, commercial properties, and residential buildings.
• Examine assigned claims suspected of insurance fraud, including significant loss, major fire incidents, and multiple claims.
• Investigate locations and provide expert testimony during depositions and trials.
• Report findings to requesting parties in accordance with best practices.
• Anticipate training needs of customers based on their exposure and antifraud initiatives.
• Maintain confidential claims records and document pertinent facts within claims handling systems.
• Keep management updated on developments that could impact claims outcomes.
• Review investigations and make timely recommendations on outcomes.
• Offer guidance and suggestions to claims leadership and associates on resolving claims.
• Foster and maintain collaboration with government agencies and private information bureaus.
• Identify and interview witnesses and individuals involved in incidents.
• Assess negligence and legal violations.
• Review public records, including deeds, mortgages, liens, lawsuits, judgments, and marriage and divorce documentation.
• Maintain expertise regarding privacy laws and the availability of public records.
• Provide investigative support and guidance to members of the Fire Investigator team.
• Contribute to quality assurance programs.
• Travel as necessary.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification is preferred.
• NAFI-Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification is required at a minimum.
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in fire investigation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in PC use, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
