Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A – AI First

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain AI agents and automated workflows for ongoing FP&A tasks.

• Implement AI in analysis, modeling, reporting, and commentary while adhering to team practices and data-handling protocols.

• Utilize Claude to expedite analysis, automate routine reporting, draft variance commentary, and critically assess assumptions.

• Establish metric definitions, maintain documented data lineage, and outline clear calculation rules.

• Determine which tasks will be automated, AI-generated for review, or require manual execution.

• Manage and document the finance team's versioned repository of agents, prompts, skills, and calculation templates.

• Review AI-assisted outputs, verify against source data, reconcile findings, and identify errors before dissemination to leadership or the board.

• Empower business partners to independently address their financial inquiries.

• Oversee the annual budgeting process and quarterly/monthly forecast updates.

• Maintain the financial model encompassing revenue, expenses, headcount, and cash flow.

• Conduct scenario analyses to support leadership decision-making.

• Manage monthly reporting packages, including comparisons of actuals to budget/forecast, variance analysis, and commentary.

• Prepare materials, metrics, and dashboards for leadership and board meetings.

• Collaborate with accounting during the month-end close process.

• Take ownership of SaaS metrics and ensure consistent definitions are used.

• Analyze profitability across customers, products, and segments.

• Create and maintain BI reports leveraging a reliable data source.

• Assist Sales, Marketing, Product, and G&A teams with budgetary and expenditure analysis.

• Collaborate with Data and Analytics teams to define reporting requirements.

• Assess the costs and benefits of projects and investments.

• Address ad-hoc analysis requests.

• A dependable intuition for identifying when a machine-generated answer is incorrect.

• Structured thought process and capability to transform ambiguous business inquiries into clear, measurable steps.

• Proven experience utilizing AI tools in practical finance applications.

• Background in developing AI-assisted workflows, including prompt-based reporting, scripting, or integrating AI tools with finance data sources.

• 3–5+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a comparable analytical finance position.

• Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based business, or a readiness to familiarize oneself with the model.

• Knowledge of SaaS metrics such as ARR, retention, churn, CAC, and LTV.

• Strong financial modeling capabilities along with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.

• Practical understanding of the three financial statements and subscription revenue recognition principles.

• Ability to clearly communicate financial outcomes to individuals outside of the finance domain.

• Familiarity with ERP, planning, and BI tools such as NetSuite, Cube, QuickSight, or similar platforms.

• Comprehension of finance and business systems along with data flows; capability to define reporting needs in collaboration with Data teams.

• Readiness to document processes to facilitate others in executing them.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
