This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Actively counsel students on financial aid matters throughout each academic year.
• Establish strong relationships while delivering clear, precise information and effective solutions.
• Assess and adjust financial aid packaging for eligibility across both undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Calculate and initiate offers for financial aid and payment plans.
• Keep student packaging updated throughout their academic journey.
• Ensure that all required documentation and financial aid processing are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant regulations.
• Inform students about their borrower rights and responsibilities, FAFSA completion, loan decisions, scholarships, and alternative funding options.
• Manage an assigned caseload of students and implement effective contact and follow-up strategies.
• Address and resolve financial aid issues, hidden obstacles, escalated requests, and complex processes.
• Collaborate with campus and University Administration teams to ensure timely and accurate disbursement of funds.
• Assume the responsibilities of the Financial Aid Manager in their absence and provide training, mentorship, and support to newer Financial Aid Advisors.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred; however, experienced candidates without a degree who possess over 10 years of financial aid experience and relevant education may be considered.
• A minimum of 6 years of customer service experience is required.
• A minimum of 6 years of financial aid experience is required.
• Candidates must not be in default on a federal student loan or owe repayment on a federal grant.
• Consent to audio and video recording of financial aid appointments for training and quality assurance purposes is required.
• Must demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, professional ethics, and confidentiality.
• Possess strong customer service skills with an emphasis on student success.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Higher-than-average computer proficiency is required.
• Strong multitasking and time-management abilities are necessary.
• Capability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment is important.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting is required.
• Willingness to work alternate hours, including nights and weekends, to support students across different time zones.
