Senior Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the month-end closing process across various entities, overseeing journals, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting according to the group timetable.

• Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet, with a focus on payroll and employment expenses.

• Serve as the internal client for outsourced accounting, payroll, and Employer of Record (EOR) platforms; review outputs, enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and authorize payroll across US, UK, Spain, Latvia, and EOR entities.

• Prepare and record payroll/employment cost journals in the ERP system, ensuring data integrity between HRIS and payroll providers.

• Deliver analysis and actionable insights on Operating Expenses and other significant areas of the Profit and Loss statement.

• Document and enhance workflows, shifting manual reviews to risk-based, threshold-driven controls.

• Assist with annual audits and statutory reporting in collaboration with auditors and outsourced service providers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in a practical accounting role within a SaaS or technology company, including experience with payroll accounting processes (journals, accruals, and control account reconciliations), month-end closing, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) or proven extensive relevant experience.

• Experience in serving as the internal client for external accounting, payroll, or EOR providers—reviewing their outputs and ensuring accountability for accuracy and compliance.

• Strong working knowledge of multi-country payroll and payroll-to-General Ledger (GL) processes (journals, accruals, and control account reconciliations).

• Proficiency in accounting ERP systems and advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets.

• Ability to leverage AI and automation tools in daily operations, with a proactive approach to exploring AI-driven workflows.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English.
