This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and manage the preparation, review, and timely submission of state and local income/franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, property, and other relevant state and local tax returns.
• Oversee the state and local tax compliance calendar, ensuring precision and compliance with filing deadlines across all applicable jurisdictions.
• Formulate and execute SALT planning strategies, including nexus studies, apportionment analysis, and identification of credits/incentives.
• Keep track of state and local legislative and regulatory changes, evaluate their impact on the business, and communicate the implications to leadership.
• Supervise state and local tax audits, including responding to information requests and resolving any disputes.
• Manage nexus determinations and taxability analyses for new products, services, and business expansion efforts.
• Collaborate with business units on new initiatives, acquisitions, and restructurings to address SALT considerations.
• Identify and implement process enhancements, automation, and technological solutions for SALT compliance and reporting.
• Maintain relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and outside legal counsel.
• Prepare and deliver SALT risk assessments, forecasts, and technical memoranda.
• Report directly to the SVP of Finance.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA, CMI, or MST is required.
• Over 5 years of progressive experience in U.S. State and Local Tax (SALT), including experience with U.S. Sales & Use Tax.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a public accounting SALT practice is mandatory.
• Strong technical expertise in multistate income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, and associated compliance and planning issues.
• Proven experience managing state tax audits and responding to information requests.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication capabilities.
• Proficient in tax compliance software and ERP systems (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax, SAP, Avalara, or similar).
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while effectively collaborating with distributed teams.
• Must have the legal right to work in the U.S. without any visa limitations.
