Senior Field Applications Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of unique product installations from start to finish, encompassing site preparation, scoping, qualification, and securing customer sign-off.

• Act as the project manager and principal technical lead for customer demonstrations.

• Establish success criteria for demos, oversee timelines and resources, carry out installations and designs of experiments (DOEs), analyze data, and report findings to customer engineering teams.

• Design and spearhead design-of-experiment initiatives together with customers and INFICON R&D teams.

• Foster standardization across sites and lead standard operating procedure (SOP) initiatives for fleet-wide deployments.

• Oversee intricate multi-site installation and qualification projects.

• Manage schedules, resources, and communication with customers.

• Present demonstration outcomes and technical insights to customer section managers and engineering teams.

• Contribute to 1–2 key strategic projects annually.

• Mentor and nurture Field Applications Engineers through coaching, technical support, and collaborative project involvement.

• Recognize customer challenges and application prospects for the Lead Engineer and Customer Engineering team.

• Travel to customer locations, including a site in Manassas, to support business goals and strengthen customer relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.

• 4–7 years of experience in field applications or systems engineering within the semiconductor or instrumentation sector.

• Proven track record of managing complex technical projects from inception to customer sign-off.

• Experience in presenting technical findings to customer engineering teams and first-line management.

• Excellent data analysis and technical presentation capabilities.

• Willingness and capability to travel up to 70% domestically, with potential for occasional international travel.

• Preferred deep expertise in at least one INFICON product line (RGA, LD, FabGuard, VCP, IMS).

• Familiarity with semiconductor process applications (etch, deposition, EUV, advanced packaging, PVD/CVD) is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to design and implement DOEs in a production fab environment is preferred.

• Preferred experience with cross-regional or multi-site customer interactions.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to work in cleanroom environments.

• Frequent domestic and occasional international travel is required.
