Senior Field Applications Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of innovative product installations from beginning to end, including site preparation, scoping, qualification, and obtaining customer sign-off.

• Act as the project manager and the primary technical lead for customer demonstrations.

• Establish criteria for demo success and oversee timelines and resource allocation.

• Carry out installations and experiment design, analyze data, and present findings to customer engineering teams.

• Develop and guide DOE activities in collaboration with customers and INFICON R&D teams.

• Promote cross-site standardization and lead SOP initiatives for deployment across the fleet.

• Oversee intricate multi-site installation and qualification projects.

• Coordinate schedules, manage resources, and handle customer communications effectively.

• Share demo outcomes and technical insights with customer section managers and engineering teams.

• Contribute to 1–2 significant strategic projects annually.

• Mentor and cultivate Field Applications Engineers through coaching, technical support, and collaborative project involvement.

• Identify customer challenges and potential application opportunities for the Lead Engineer and Customer Engineering team.

• Travel to customer locations to meet business objectives and foster customer relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.

• 4–7 years of experience in field applications or systems engineering within the semiconductor or instrumentation sector.

• Proven track record of managing complex technical projects from inception to customer sign-off.

• Experience in presenting technical results to customer engineering teams and first-line management.

• Strong skills in data analysis and technical presentations.

• Willingness and capability to travel up to 70% domestically, with occasional travel internationally.

• Preferred deep expertise in at least one INFICON product line (RGA, LD, FabGuard, VCP, IMS).

• Familiarity with semiconductor process applications (etch, deposition, EUV, advanced packaging, PVD/CVD) is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to design and implement DOEs in a production fab setting is preferred.

• Experience with cross-regional or multi-site customers is preferred.

• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to work in cleanroom environments.

• Frequent domestic and occasional international travel is required.
