This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Create innovative concepts for mobile tours, brand activations, pop-ups, sampling experiences, and retail spaces.
• Transform brand identities and campaign goals into tangible environments using form, materials, color, lighting, graphics, and interactivity.
• Design comprehensive activation layouts that encompass vehicle positioning, guest entrances, queues, activity areas, product displays, photo opportunities, staff workspaces, and storage solutions.
• Create customized fabrication components such as bars, counters, shelving units, display fixtures, seating options, oversized props, interactive games, and personalization stations.
• Design both the interiors and exteriors of vehicles, including dimensional signage, rooftop features, serving windows, integrated displays, and surrounding scenic elements.
• Develop mood boards, sketches, spatial layouts, 3D models, and renderings to effectively communicate ideas to clients.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, material and finish references, and annotated specifications for production estimates and construction development.
• Collaborate with producers, graphic designers, fabricators, and installers regarding budgets, timelines, logistics, and site conditions.
• Review fabrication drawings, samples, and progress photographs to ensure the design is maintained throughout the execution phase.
• Create reusable and modular components that can be adapted across different brands, vehicles, and tour locations.
• Produce concept directions, material palettes, scaled activation layouts, guest flow plans, 3D models, renderings, dimensioned plans, elevations, detailed specifications, organized source files, and production handoffs.
• A robust portfolio showcasing experiential, spatial, exhibit, scenic, retail, or hospitality design, including examples of physically realized projects.
• Experience managing projects from the initial concept stage through design development and fabrication collaboration.
• Strong understanding of scale, proportion, materials, finishes, lighting, and environmental storytelling.
• Proficiency in professional 3D design software, such as SketchUp, Rhino, Cinema 4D, Blender, or similar, along with skills in presentation and drawing tools.
• Ability to produce both compelling client visuals and comprehensive design documentation.
• Practical knowledge of fabrication techniques, modular construction, durability, assembly, and logistics.
• Awareness of accessibility, guest circulation, outdoor conditions, and site limitations, with the discernment to involve production and engineering specialists when necessary.
• Effective communication skills, dependable delivery, and the ability to navigate feedback while collaborating with a fast-paced team.
• Relevant experience with mobile activations, vehicle conversions, beauty and fashion pop-ups, customization experiences, or interactive installations is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with AI visualization tools is appreciated as part of your workflow, alongside the ability to translate concepts into dimensionally accurate designs and editable project files.
