Senior Ethernet AI Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deploy, validate, and maintain Ethernet fabrics utilized in AI and HPC cluster environments.

• Resolve L1 through L4 issues related to optics, transceivers, cabling, link initialization, VLANs, MLAG, ECMP, BGP, underlay/overlay connectivity, congestion, and packet loss.

• Assess network preparedness for distributed training and substantial east-west traffic patterns.

• Identify performance challenges pertaining to buffer pressure, microbursts, PFC behavior, QoS policies, MTU mismatches, routing instability, and oversubscription.

• Collaborate closely with Linux, storage, and cluster deployment teams to differentiate between host and network fault domains.

• Review and implement change plans for switch provisioning, firmware updates, topology expansions, and maintenance activities.

• Collect packet-level and counter-based data to facilitate root cause investigations.

• Establish operational standards for cable mapping, consistency in port policy, and validation of fabric health.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in large-scale data center networking, particularly with high-bandwidth Ethernet fabrics.

• Extensive knowledge of spine-leaf architecture, routing, switching, and troubleshooting in production environments.

• Practical expertise with BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, MLAG, ECMP, QoS, PFC, RoCE considerations, and telemetry analysis.

• Proven experience in validating optics, breakout configurations, cable plant integrity, and port-level uniformity.

• Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot the impact of network behavior on distributed applications.

• Proficient in using switch CLI, automation tools, and workflows for packet/counter analysis.

• Strong documentation practices for topology, incident timelines, and remediation strategies.
