This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Lead and execute intricate environmental investigations, inspections, and monitoring programs concerning asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and other environmental risks.

• Act as a technical resource and subject matter expert in hazardous materials assessments, indoor air quality evaluations, and remediation initiatives.

• Oversee field activities, including air, bulk, and surface sampling programs, ensuring alignment with project goals and relevant regulatory standards.

• Analyze and interpret environmental data, prepare technical reports, and deliver clear recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.

• Supervise remediation and abatement oversight activities, including contractor monitoring, final visual inspections, and clearance air sampling.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and PADEP requirements, while upholding company health and safety protocols.

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality execution and client satisfaction.

• Foster and maintain robust client relationships through technical guidance, regulatory interpretation, and strategic consulting support.

• Mentor and assist junior staff through field training, technical reviews, and professional development opportunities.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across J.S. Held to support complex projects, business development efforts, and growth initiatives.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of technical procedures, quality assurance programs, and best practices within the Industrial Hygiene & Built Environment practice.

• Maintain and calibrate field equipment while ensuring the effective implementation of quality control and quality assurance processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Kinesiology, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, hazardous materials management, or a related area, with proven growth in responsibility.

• Extensive experience in conducting and managing investigations related to asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and indoor air quality.

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, PADEP, and other relevant hazardous materials regulations.

• Experience overseeing environmental sampling programs, including air, bulk, and surface sampling, along with interpreting laboratory results.

• Proven experience in managing projects, coordinating field teams, and delivering high-quality client outputs on time and within budget.

• Strong technical writing, report preparation, and QA/QC review capabilities.

• Ability to independently lead field investigations and travel to project sites across Pennsylvania and neighboring states as required.

• Experience as a client-facing consultant providing technical recommendations to stakeholders.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Preferred EPA AHERA Building Inspector and/or Management Planner accreditation.

• NIOSH 582 Microscopy Course (or equivalent) certification.

• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or progressing towards professional certification.

• Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry asbestos certifications or other state-specific asbestos accreditations.

• Certification as a Lead Risk Assessor, Lead Inspector, or Lead Abatement Supervisor.

• Experience mentoring junior staff and providing technical oversight.

• Experience assisting in business development initiatives, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.

• Experience working on complex commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, or insurance-related projects.
