Senior Engineering Manager – Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the Infrastructure team within Engineering Foundations.

• Take charge of cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, LLM infrastructure, database platform, observability, and incident response.

• Hire and nurture engineers from senior to staff levels.

• Manage an efficient on-call rotation.

• Establish team strategy and vision.

• Be responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of Mamba, Headway’s FastAPI/Python monolith, along with its AWS infrastructure.

• Propel the transition towards self-serve infrastructure and strategic platform initiatives.

• Lead architectural and deployment validation processes to minimize incident impact.

• Define production-readiness criteria for AI workloads.

• Co-manage container security and secrets management alongside the Security team.

• Ensure the platform is accessible and comprehensible for product engineering teams.

• Report directly to the Head of Engineering Foundations.

• Collaborate with Engineering Leadership, Security, and product engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in engineering leadership, with a focus on leading infrastructure or platform teams.

• At least 5 years of experience as a Software or Infrastructure Engineer.

• Proven experience leading the transition from an infrastructure-owned model to a self-serve platform.

• Experience managing the interactions between platform and product engineering teams, including ownership boundaries and self-serve tooling.

• Ability to oversee support queues, strategic roadmaps, on-call rotations, and external dependencies.

• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure at scale.

• Knowledge of Datadog or similar observability tools.

• Experience with deployment pipelines in organizations where reliability is a critical requirement.

• Hands-on daily experience with AI coding tools.

• Successful completion of a hands-on AI coding interview.

• Experience in owning platform strategy and presenting it to senior leadership.

• Proven track record in leading substantial architectural transitions.

• Experience in building or governing LLM infrastructure and AI platform primitives.

• Background in healthcare or another regulated environment is advantageous.
