Senior Engineering Intelligence Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain interactive dashboards in Looker that encompass predictions for feature delivery, FTE allocation, resource contention, and overall portfolio health.

• Transition existing HTML-based dashboards to the enterprise BI platform while maintaining and enhancing analytical depth.

• Create user-friendly, self-service visualizations tailored for engineering leaders.

• Implement alert systems and anomaly detection to highlight potential risks.

• Construct and uphold data pipelines that integrate Jira, Jellyfish, Salesforce, and various internal systems.

• Utilize Python and SQL to extract, transform, and load data into a centralized analytics data repository.

• Establish data quality checks, automated validation, and monitoring processes.

• Enhance query performance and data models to achieve sub-second response times for dashboards.

• Administer API rate limits, authentication, incremental synchronization, and error management.

• Assist the Senior Leader in creating executive-ready analyses and insight presentations.

• Conduct ad-hoc analyses focusing on feature delivery trends, team capacity, engineering investment patterns, and cycle time influences.

• Develop reusable analytical templates and frameworks.

• Record data lineage, calculation methods, and dashboard logic.

• Collaborate with Engineering Service Owners, Engineering Operations, Delivery Managers, Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, and Product Operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, or a similar technical analytics position.

• Proficient in SQL with capabilities in complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and performance optimization.

• Expertise in Python for data processing using libraries such as pandas, requests, and for scheduling jobs.

• Practical experience with the Looker BI tool, including data modeling, dashboard creation, and performance tuning.

• Experience in building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing REST API data sources.

• Familiar with Jira and possess a strong understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and the operations of engineering organizations.

• Excellent data visualization skills, capable of designing dashboards that convey a clear narrative beyond just displaying figures.

• Strong focus on data quality, accuracy, and thorough documentation.

• Familiar with Jira APIs, Jira Structure, and the Atlassian ecosystem at scale.

• Knowledge of Jellyfish or comparable engineering management platforms.

• Experience extracting data from Salesforce (SOQL, reports API).

• Background with cloud data platforms, particularly BigQuery.

• Familiarity with engineering metrics such as DORA, velocity, cycle time, and throughput.

• Skills in HTML and JavaScript for custom visualizations and rapid prototyping.

• Experience in SaaS or enterprise software environments.
