Senior Engineer – Server

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the backend architecture and services that underpin NBA 2K’s online functionalities.

• Design and enhance distributed systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.

• Construct and maintain extensive computing solutions capable of handling millions of simultaneous players.

• Develop efficient database structures and execute queries for high-volume, real-time transactions.

• Provide high-performance backend services with a focus on low latency and stability.

• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to facilitate smooth online gameplay experiences.

• Assume ownership of distributed systems, large-scale computing, and effective databases.

• Report directly to the Lead Director of Programming.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software development, particularly in backend and server-side systems.

• Strong expertise in C++ with a thorough understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.

• Proficient in one or more scripting languages such as Python, PHP, Perl, or Ruby, with a strong emphasis on Python.

• Knowledge of distributed and scalable systems.

• Proven track record in multithreaded programming.

• Demonstrated capability to research, assess, and incorporate emerging technologies and trends.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in large-scale software development.

• Experience in developing secure transaction systems, including virtual currency and account-based features, is a significant advantage.

• Expertise in database optimization, encompassing connection management and query performance tuning.

• Familiarity with online gaming architectures and the service design for live, connected player experiences.

• Working knowledge of SQL databases, such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or similar systems.

• Experience in video game console development is highly advantageous.
