Senior Engineer, Modern Platforms, Virtualization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with a team of engineers on client projects and ongoing professional service engagements.

• Design and deploy VMware solutions tailored for clients.

• Conduct VMware workshops for customers.

• Lead client interactions to identify and oversee workload migrations.

• Provide occasional post-implementation support and troubleshooting for clients.

• Create professional technical documentation for client evaluation.

• Develop logical and physical diagrams utilizing Microsoft Visio or similar tools.

• Accurately track and log time spent in the necessary systems.

• Facilitate discussions and whiteboarding sessions with clients and/or colleagues.

• Report directly to the Senior Director of Modern Platforms Virtualization.

• Travel up to 5% as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, including military background.

• Over 6 years of advanced VMware knowledge and experience with data center and workload migrations.

• More than 3 years of experience in developing workload migration strategies.

• Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting VMware Cloud Foundation suite of products.

• Strong expertise in migrating data center workloads within VMware, including P2V, vMotion, and HCX.

• Experience in designing and implementing intricate VMware data center solutions.

• Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation products; VCP certification preferred but not mandatory.

• Technical certifications are highly desired.

• Willingness to travel as necessary, up to 5%.

• Capability to physically lift and install equipment.

• Knowledge in DHCP, DNS, and general network troubleshooting.

• Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies.

• Familiarity with multiple data centers and concepts of high availability, replication, and RTO/RPO.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

• Competence in accurately diagramming and documenting a working environment.
