This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Ensure the effective and high-quality execution of NFPA’s standards development process.
• Oversee daily project management activities.
• Mentor and guide department personnel.
• Act as a senior-level technical expert on the standards development process for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Serve as a senior technical expert in electrical matters both internally and externally.
• Manage responsibilities related to electrical codes and standards, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, NFPA 73, NFPA 110, NFPA 111, NFPA 790, NFPA 791, NFPA 855, NFPA 780, and NFPA 79.
• Provide assistance with NFPA 70 as necessary.
• Manage other assigned electrical or additional standards through the standards development process.
• Represent NFPA and provide support to electrical trade associations.
• Collaborate with internal staff and assist with Electrical Sections on an annual basis when required.
• Offer electrical expertise to NFPA members via the technical question service.
• Serve as an electrical subject matter expert on handbooks, training, certification, and product development projects.
• Deliver technical content through instructor-led training sessions, field service, and stakeholder outreach.
• Act as an electrical expert on panels for Fire Protection Research projects.
• Provide expertise to the NFPA communications team as an electrical specialist.
• Offer staff liaison support on large-scale standards development projects.
• Lead projects or initiatives that involve multiple disciplines.
• Provide necessary budgetary information for assigned projects.
• Guide participants in the NFPA codes and standards development process impartially.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant professional certification (such as a Professional Engineering License in electrical, Master Electrician, or Certified Electrical Inspector preferred).
• At least 10 years of progressively advanced technical experience, project management, and content development within the electrical field.
• Senior-level electrical technical/engineering knowledge to tackle complex technical challenges.
• Extensive expert knowledge in electrical concepts.
• Awareness and understanding of member and stakeholder groups across the electrical industry.
• Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards along with the standards development process.
• Business acumen to support interactions across the association and facilitate cross-functional team activities.
• Strong skills in coaching, mentoring, and developing junior staff members.
• Proficient in both written and verbal communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Skilled in public speaking.
