Senior Engineer, Cloud Operations – Contract Position

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Design, document, construct, operate, and enhance large-scale, highly available, multi-cloud infrastructure and services.

• Take ownership and advance essential components of the SaaS platform hosted on AWS and GCP.

• Manage, refine, and scale the observability stack along with operational processes.

• Assess performance, usability, and platform stability challenges and recommend long-term solutions.

• Identify bottlenecks, manual workflows, and inefficient processes, and automate them into dependable, measurable systems.

• Work concurrently on multiple initiatives and collaborate with teams to establish and promote best practices.

• Advance engineering processes from ad hoc to well-documented, optimized, and replicable.

• Enhance the scalability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of cloud components.

• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

• Complete onboarding goals within 30, 60, and 90 days, including familiarization with products and environments, contributing to initiatives, reviewing pull requests, engaging in design discussions, and taking ownership of components.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale, automated cloud systems across multiple regions and zones in AWS and GCP.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) and service mesh technologies.

• Strong expertise in observability systems for monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis.

• Background in creating and optimizing centralized logging pipelines for extensive systems.

• Experience in on-call duties, including troubleshooting, incident response, and system administration.

• 5–7 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or similar cloud-oriented roles.

• Proficiency with Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Helm, Flux/ArgoCD, and Istio.

• Strong scripting abilities; proficiency in Python, Bash, and/or TypeScript is preferred.

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD ecosystems and tools, including GitHub/GitHub Actions, Jenkins, JFrog, VMware, Prometheus, and Grafana.

• Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL, including HA design, query optimization, and debugging.

• Demonstrated experience operating distributed systems and implementing CI/CD best practices.

• Experience with telephony infrastructure is a plus.
