Senior Energy Solutions Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development of Sustainable Building Technologies projects across North America.

• Offer engineering support to the sales team for central plant design and optimization initiatives.

• Support markets including Public, Federal, and Commercial & Industrial sectors.

• Utilize subject matter expertise to guide customers towards Honeywell solutions.

• Provide consultations both externally and internally.

• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of product messaging, customer support, and training materials.

• Promote cross-functional alignment with the needs of customers.

• Take part in strategy planning for pursuits and negotiations with customers.

• Apply knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid systems.

• Interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.

• Develop conceptual schematic designs for initial cost estimations.

• Analyze energy metering, performance trends, and related data.

• Calculate annual energy usage for central heating/cooling and CHP facilities.

• Create detailed savings calculations for proposed solutions.

• Produce 30-year life-cycle cost analyses for new or modified facilities.

• Draft comprehensive scopes of work for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Conduct root-cause analysis and devise solutions for performance issues in plants and CHP systems.

• Engage in customer interactions and deliver technical presentations.

• Evaluate growth opportunities and scrutinize proposal activities.

• Develop and advocate for sales training programs.

• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

• Travel approximately 30% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience with central heating/cooling plants and CHP systems.

• Practical experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, hydronic/steam systems, etc.

• Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

• Familiarity with ASME, NFPA, UFC, and international mechanical codes.

• Experience in project development for projects ranging from $1M to $20M+.

• Relevant professional certifications such as CEM or LEED-AP.

• Experience with steam and/or gas turbine generation and thermal energy storage systems.

• Knowledge of traditional building HVAC and control systems.

• Understanding of industry regulatory requirements and upcoming mandates.

• Awareness of energy and carbon reduction project grants and incentive programs.

• U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract obligations.

• Ability to build and maintain robust customer relationships.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and proposal development.

• Capability to drive results through influence in a matrixed team environment.
