Observability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish criteria for monitoring, alerting protocols, and methods to assess uptime and reliability across enterprise systems.

• Create Datadog dashboards and monitoring tools to track availability, capacity, performance, and concurrency limits across both SaaS and internal applications.

• Develop alert routing and escalation protocols within PagerDuty.

• Extract logs, utilize APIs, and design lightweight integrations or tools for systems that lack native observability.

• Supervise critical end-to-end business workflows that span multiple systems.

• Collaborate with IT Service Management on incident response, root cause analysis, and validation of changes.

• Leverage scripting and AI-assisted development to expedite builds and enhance signal quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing observability functions, encompassing dashboards, monitors, and alert systems.

• Practical experience with Datadog.

• Practical experience with PagerDuty.

• Proficiency in scripting and API utilization (e.g., Python) for extracting logs and data from systems lacking native integrations.

• Proven history of establishing observability or monitoring solutions where few or none existed previously.

• Experience in a startup or high-growth company environment (preferred).

• Familiarity with monitoring SaaS business applications, beyond just infrastructure (preferred).

• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry or other logging and metrics pipelines (preferred).

• Experience with ITSM tools and incident or change management processes (e.g., Jira Service Management) (preferred).

• Experience in using AI-assisted development for creating internal tools (preferred).
