Senior Electrical Cost Estimator – Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead comprehensive electrical cost estimations for large-scale construction initiatives.

• Execute and supervise electrical quantity takeoffs derived from drawings, specifications, and BIM models.

• Develop, assess, and manage pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.

• Maintain historical cost records, benchmarks, and estimating standards.

• Review contractor and subcontractor proposals for scope discrepancies, cost risks, and value opportunities.

• Support value engineering by analyzing alternative systems, materials, and installation methods.

• Collaborate with design, procurement, and construction teams.

• Evaluate risks associated with material costs, labor availability, procurement timelines, and market conditions.

• Consider regional cost differences across U.S. markets.

• Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, relevant codes, and industry standards.

• Prepare estimating deliverables and present insights to stakeholders.

• Engage in cost reviews, procurement discussions, and commercial strategy meetings.

• Assess scope alterations and their financial implications.

• Provide estimate handover documentation to project teams.

• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to best practices in estimating and continuous improvement.

• Comply with SOX control responsibilities where applicable.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in electrical estimating, cost management, preconstruction, or a similar construction role.

• Proven experience in preparing detailed estimates and quantity takeoffs for large-scale construction projects.

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry pricing practices.

• Experience in reviewing contractor and subcontractor pricing, bid leveling, and cost analysis.

• Proficient with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, OST, Accubid, Trimble, ConEst, or similar tools.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and BIM-related information.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Capability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

• Candidates must be physically located in the United States.

• Candidates must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Prior experience in mentoring junior estimators or leading estimating efforts is preferred.
