Senior Director, AI Security Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Build and oversee a top-tier, multi-team organization comprising engineering managers, principal engineers, and research scientists.

• Establish the long-term technical strategy, roadmap, OKRs, and success metrics for AI security systems.

• Make decisions regarding investments in personnel, computing resources, and project timelines.

• Lead initiatives that deliver AI intelligence on the Falcon sensor while adhering to stringent constraints on latency, memory, and power consumption.

• Direct streaming detection, inference, and agent platforms that process trillions of events daily.

• Propel agentic systems into production for investigation, threat hunting, detection creation and validation, as well as response and remediation efforts.

• Develop the operational model to efficiently and safely transition Lab research outcomes into the Falcon platform.

• Set benchmarks, cyber ranges, and evaluation methodologies to assess security effectiveness, false-positive costs, reliability, latency, and expenditures.

• Establish protective measures against evasion, poisoning, prompt injection, and tool misuse.

• Collaborate with Falcon engineering, product management, threat intelligence, frontline services, and executive leadership.

• Report on strategy, progress, risks, and investment opportunities to senior executives.

• Represent CrowdStrike through relationship-building, public speaking, publications, and partnerships with AI laboratories, infrastructure partners, universities, and the security research community.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).

• 15+ years of progressive industry experience in software engineering, machine learning, or security engineering.

• 8+ years of experience managing engineering or applied research teams.

• 4+ years of experience leading managers across various teams.

• Proven track record in overseeing the architecture, delivery, and operation of AI or ML systems for security in a production environment.

• Strong proficiency with large language models and agentic architectures, including planning, tool usage, memory, and context management.

• Familiarity with post-training techniques such as SFT, RLHF/RLAIF, and DPO/GRPO.

• Expertise in evaluation and inference optimization.

• Significant experience in detection and response, threat hunting, malware analysis, vulnerability research, adversary tactics (MITRE ATT&CK), or security automation.

• Experience leading teams focused on building distributed systems, high-throughput data infrastructure, and GPU inference stacks.

• Proven success in creating high-performing teams, developing leaders, managing performance, and scaling organizations.

• Exceptional communication capabilities and the ability to present recommendations to senior executives.

• Demonstrated experience utilizing AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, enhance efficiency, and drive business results.

• Background in the cybersecurity industry, experience in frontier AI labs, adversarial or offensive AI, extensible AI or agentic platforms, building new organizations, and recognized technical contributions are highly advantageous.
