Senior DevOps Engineer, Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee, monitor, and enhance AWS and Linux production infrastructure.

• Operate and maintain nginx, Apache, Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and relational database services.

• Enhance infrastructure as code, configuration management, and CI/CD using Terraform, Ansible, and Bitbucket Pipelines.

• Manage CDN and WAF layers utilizing Akamai and Cloudflare.

• Monitor platform health and performance, address alerts, and bolster resilience.

• Take ownership of production incidents, diagnose systems, networking, databases, and infrastructure, determine root causes, and restore services.

• Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python and Bash.

• Engage in the shared 24/7 on-call rotation once fully integrated.

• Collaborate with Software Engineers and other technical teams to ensure Snappy's systems remain secure, reliable, and efficient.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in DevOps, Systems Administration, or a comparable infrastructure role.

• Strong practical Linux experience in critical business production settings.

• Proficient in troubleshooting across operating systems, networking, web infrastructure, and databases.

• Extensive experience with AWS.

• Strong background in infrastructure-as-code.

• Familiarity with automation and CI/CD practices.

• Capability to take charge of production challenges.

• Experience with Linux, nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS/Postgres, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Terraform, and CDN/WAF technologies.

• Comfortable with participating in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation.

• Experience with Bitbucket Pipelines, Ansible, and monitoring tools such as Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom, or New Relic is advantageous.

• Working knowledge of PHP or Node.js is beneficial.

• Experience in PCI DSS or ISO 27001 environments is a plus.

• Proficient in Python and Bash for automation tasks.

• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
