Senior DevOps Engineer, Azure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with software development teams to incorporate DevOps best practices into pipelines while fostering operational excellence and continuous improvement.

• Design, construct, and sustain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for dependable and repeatable build, test, and deployment processes.

• Provision and oversee scalable, resilient, and cost-effective Azure infrastructure utilizing Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for maintaining system health and ensuring rapid incident response.

• Integrate vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and Azure security best practices within the DevOps pipeline.

• Engage in incident response, root cause analysis, and the implementation of preventative measures.

• Support compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and other regulatory requirements through infrastructure controls, access management, and audit preparedness.

• Provide guidance and support to development teams regarding DevOps practices, tooling, and workflows.

• Contribute to AI-driven solutions and leverage AI tools to enhance automation, engineering efficiency, and DevOps practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering, with a focus on owning and enhancing production cloud infrastructure at a senior level.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

• Extensive, hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure, covering compute, networking, storage, and identity (Entra ID).

• Proficient hands-on experience in CI/CD engineering.

• Strong, practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably using Terraform, though comparable IaC technologies will be considered.

• Ability to independently explore unfamiliar or complex environments, pinpoint technical gaps, and drive solutions with minimal guidance.

• Proficiency in scripting and automation languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

• Understanding of observability concepts, including MELT and related tools.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

• Knowledge of Azure networking fundamentals, including Virtual Networks (VNets), Network Security Groups (NSGs), Private Endpoints, and DNS.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Candidates must currently reside in Ireland.

• Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104, GitLab/GitLab CI, repository and CI/CD pipeline migrations, SonarQube or similar, and experience with regulated industry/compliance frameworks are advantageous.
