Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and oversee scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform, which includes Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and Confluent Kafka.

• Collaborate with software development teams to create efficient CI/CD pipelines and automate the deployment of applications.

• Implement solutions for monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure the health, performance, and security of cloud infrastructure.

• Optimize the Kafka message broker to facilitate an event-driven architecture and enhance system performance.

• Identify performance bottlenecks and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address them.

• Ensure the security of cloud infrastructure and applications by adhering to best practices and current threat mitigation strategies.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployment, and applications in collaboration with developers.

• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, deployment, and troubleshooting processes.

• Stay updated on advancements in cloud technology, Kubernetes, and DevOps, and suggest improvements for the infrastructure.

• Build and sustain platform features while providing technical guidance to business teams that are adopting engineering functionalities.

• Enable seamless scalability of production infrastructure and proactively address potential growth challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, specifically focused on cloud infrastructure.

• Understanding of streaming data and the design of distributed systems using asynchronous message brokers such as Kafka.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

• Experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure on GCP, including virtual machines, storage solutions, networking, and IAM.

• Proficiency in managing Kubernetes deployments, along with monitoring, scaling, and troubleshooting.

• Experience in maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GCP and GitHub Actions.

• Knowledge of Kafka components, including Zookeeper, Brokers, and optimization techniques for Kafka client applications (Producers/Consumers).

• Skilled in YAML and capable of writing structured configuration files for infrastructure management and application deployment.

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell.

• A strong understanding of containerization and orchestration principles.

• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
