Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain both cloud and on-premises infrastructure utilizing Terraform and Ansible.

• Collaborate with software engineers to architect, deploy, and oversee applications operating on Linux servers across GCP, OCI, and on-premises settings.

• Create, execute, and govern secure and scalable cloud network architectures, encompassing VPCs, subnets, firewall configurations, and load balancing.

• Build and uphold CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Workflows or Cloud Build.

• Manage code repositories and facilitate collaboration using GitHub.

• Diagnose production issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective measures to ensure business continuity with minimal downtime.

• Design, execute, and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting systems.

• Utilize Python and Bash scripting to automate operational tasks and enhance efficiency.

• Configure and oversee the API ecosystem with APISIX Gateway.

• Provide on-call support as per the scheduled rotation.

• Contribute to project planning, task estimation, and comprehensive technical documentation.

• Investigate and propose enhancements to improve system performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with peers and architects to ensure adherence to company standards and security best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Over 6 years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a comparable position.

• At least 4 years of experience working with UNIX/Linux systems, including configuration, troubleshooting, and scripting with Python and/or Bash.

• Strong understanding of Terraform, Ansible, Docker containerization, the HashiCorp stack (Vault, Packer), Git/GitHub, networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), and cloud networking concepts (VPCs, firewalls, load balancers).

• Practical experience with cloud service providers, ideally GCP and OCI.

• Ability to work collaboratively with software engineers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders in Agile environments using Jira and Confluence.

• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

• Production experience with Kubernetes is highly valued.

• Previous experience managing API gateways such as APISIX is also highly valued.

• Experience in building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Workflows or Cloud Build is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools like Elasticsearch, Kibana, Grafana, or cloud-native solutions is highly regarded.

• GCP or OCI certifications are a plus.

• Demonstrated experience in multicultural environments and/or supporting internationally distributed engineering teams in a scale-up context.

• Strong prioritization and project management abilities.

• Comfortable working within Agile frameworks, including Scrumban, as part of a regionally distributed team.
