Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, execution, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise-level DevOps and cloud infrastructure solutions.

• Construct, sustain, and refine CI/CD pipelines.

• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.

• Collaborate with software engineering, quality engineering, and product teams to provide secure and highly available platforms.

• Promote automation across infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployments, monitoring, and operational processes.

• Assist in software build, release, and deployment activities across development, integration, validation, and production environments.

• Implement and uphold monitoring, observability, logging, and alerting solutions.

• Advocate for DevSecOps practices and security throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Design and support disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies.

• Ensure that architectures incorporate Security-by-Design and Privacy-by-Design principles.

• Work alongside test automation teams to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability testing capabilities.

• Diagnose complex infrastructure and application issues throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

• Assess emerging technologies and suggest improvements.

• Mentor engineers and disseminate DevOps best practices.

• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to execute operational and technical initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps and Platform Engineering.

• Preferred experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.

• Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing engineering strategy within complex enterprise settings.

• Demonstrated success in building and managing large-scale CI/CD platforms and release automation frameworks.

• Strong background with cloud platforms, primarily AWS, and secondarily Azure.

• In-depth knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of modern DevOps, DevSecOps, and SRE principles and practices.

• Familiarity with configuration management and automation tools.

• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Shell, Java, or similar technologies.

• Experience in administering and securing Linux and enterprise infrastructure environments.

• Knowledge of system hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and cybersecurity best practices.

• Equivalent practical experience may substitute for the listed degree, at the discretion of the Department Head.
