Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of intricate Azure platform projects from architecture and design to implementation, production readiness, and ongoing optimization.

• Proactively identify operational, security, scalability, and reliability risks, implementing robust solutions.

• Set engineering standards, create comprehensive documentation, promote reusable automation, and drive continuous improvement.

• Serve as a senior technical authority on Azure platform architecture, cloud-native DevOps methodologies, and production operations.

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable SaaS infrastructure, including technical planning, architecture assessments, execution, validation, and operational transition.

• Establish and advocate for platform standards, reference architectures, guardrails, and engineering best practices.

• Mentor engineers and facilitate cross-functional troubleshooting and design conversations.

• Design, deploy, automate, and manage enterprise-level Azure infrastructure and networking.

• Architect, construct, and maintain cloud-native application platforms utilizing AKS, ACR, App Services, and Function Apps.

• Design and sustain Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation using Terraform and Ansible.

• Manage Azure DevOps pipelines alongside automated build, deployment, validation, rollback, and release procedures.

• Create reusable modules, templates, and standardized images using Packer and Azure Compute Gallery.

• Design, deploy, automate, and support Azure SQL Database, SQL Elastic Pools, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, and Elastic Job Agent.

• Implement secure infrastructure and delivery methods utilizing managed identities, Key Vault, security groups, secrets management, RBAC, and least-privilege access principles.

• Develop monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, and performance management solutions using Datadog and OpenTelemetry connectors.

• Take part in on-call and incident response activities; lead incident triage, root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive measures.

• Facilitate application integration and event-driven architectures utilizing APIM, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and App Configuration.

• Assist in the deployment, governance, monitoring, and operation of Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, AI Foundry Projects, and Document Intelligence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of systems, cloud architecture, networking, identity, security, and production operations.

• Proven experience in designing, building, deploying, and maintaining scalable SaaS solutions within Microsoft Azure.

• Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, observability, and automation in enterprise settings.

• Experience in leading complex technical projects involving multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and production risks.

• Excellent incident management and troubleshooting abilities across application, platform, network, security, and data layers.

• Capacity to translate business and engineering requirements into practical, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to take full ownership and operate effectively with minimal guidance.

• Good judgment in ambiguous situations and the capability to escalate significant risks with clear options and recommendations.

• Ability to influence technical direction through expertise, credibility, collaboration, and measurable results.

• Proactive in identifying systemic issues and addressing root causes.

• Skilled at building strong partnerships across Engineering, Security, Product, and other business units.
