Senior Database Administrator, PostgreSQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design, build, implement, and sustain large relational databases

• Ensure database integrity and security, encompassing backup and recovery protocols

• Establish and oversee disaster recovery and failover mechanisms

• Monitor database performance, make necessary adjustments, and apply updates and new versions as needed

• Enhance query performance

• Collaborate with development teams to maximize database efficiency

• Configure and manage database replication, clustering, mirroring, and other high-availability approaches

• Utilize and comprehend tools such as PgBouncer and contemporary monitoring systems

• Keep abreast of the latest database technologies and industry best practices

• Become a part of Tabby’s Infrastructure team to develop and oversee dependable, high-performance database systems at scale

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (mandatory), including setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and performance optimization

• Capability to write and refine complex SQL queries

• Experience with backup and recovery methodologies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)

• Solid understanding of database design, documentation, and best development practices

• Familiarity with ClickHouse is advantageous

• Proficient knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Go

• Experience in managing DBaaS solutions on cloud platforms (GCP or AWS is beneficial)

• Experience in migrating substantial databases across cloud environments

• Awareness of modern DevOps methodologies, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm

• Experience with real-time data streaming technologies like Debezium or Flink

• Relevant certifications or formal training in database management are advantageous

• Strong problem-solving capabilities and exceptional communication skills

• Professional proficiency in English (B2 level or above)
