Senior Database Administrator, PostgreSQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Design, build, install, and maintain extensive relational databases

• Ensure database integrity and security, including implementing backup and recovery procedures

• Develop and oversee disaster recovery and failover systems

• Monitor database performance, make necessary changes, and apply updates and patches as needed

• Enhance query performance through optimization

• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database usage

• Establish and maintain database replication, clustering, mirroring, and other high-availability techniques

• Utilize and understand tools such as PgBouncer and contemporary monitoring systems

• Keep abreast of the latest database technologies and best practices

• Assist in building and maintaining dependable, high-performance database systems at scale

• Initiate improvements in database reliability and performance, contributing to the infrastructure that supports Tabby’s expanding business

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (required), including setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and performance tuning

• Capability to write and optimize complex SQL queries

• Experience with backup and recovery strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)

• Strong grasp of database design, documentation, and development best practices

• Familiarity with ClickHouse is advantageous

• Proficient knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Go

• Experience managing DBaaS solutions on cloud platforms; GCP or AWS is a plus

• Experience in migrating large databases across cloud platforms

• Understanding of modern DevOps practices, including Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm

• Experience with real-time data streaming technologies like Debezium or Flink

• Relevant certifications or formal training in database management are a plus

• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills

• Professional proficiency in English (B2 level or higher)
