Senior Database Administrator, PostgreSQL

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design, build, implement, and manage extensive relational databases.

• Ensure database integrity and security, encompassing backup and recovery protocols.

• Establish and oversee disaster recovery and failover frameworks.

• Track database performance, introduce modifications, and apply necessary patches and updates.

• Enhance query performance through optimization.

• Collaborate with development teams to maximize database efficiency.

• Configure and sustain database replication, clustering, mirroring, and other high-availability techniques.

• Utilize and comprehend PgBouncer and contemporary monitoring tools.

• Remain informed about the latest database technologies and best practices.

• Propel improvements in database reliability and overall performance.

• Contribute to the infrastructure supporting Tabby’s expanding fintech operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (mandatory), including setup, replication, upgrades, monitoring, and performance optimization.

• Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.

• Familiarity with backup and recovery methods, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).

• Strong grasp of database design, documentation, and development best practices.

• Experience with ClickHouse is advantageous.

• Working knowledge of Bash, Python, or Go.

• Experience overseeing DBaaS solutions on cloud platforms; familiarity with GCP or AWS is beneficial.

• Experience in migrating large databases across various cloud platforms.

• Understanding of Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.

• Familiarity with real-time data streaming technologies such as Debezium or Flink.

• Relevant certifications or formal training in database management are a plus.

• Strong analytical skills and exceptional communication capabilities.

• Professional proficiency in English (B2 level or higher).
