This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Examine both structured and unstructured data to uncover trends, patterns, and business opportunities.
• Execute exploratory analyses and on-demand research to address key business inquiries.
• Provide actionable insights that bolster strategic initiatives and enhance operational efficiency.
• Convert intricate analytical results into presentations and reports that are accessible for business stakeholders.
• Design, test, and maintain predictive models for optimizing pricing, forecasting claims, detecting fraud, segmenting customers, and predicting business performance.
• Utilize statistical methods and machine learning techniques to tackle business challenges.
• Implement A/B testing and assess program effectiveness.
• Create, develop, and sustain dashboards and KPI reporting solutions utilizing Power BI and Tableau.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to establish business metrics and reporting specifications.
• Track business performance and detect emerging trends through visualizations and reporting.
• Work alongside underwriting, product, marketing, operations, and leadership teams on analytical projects.
• Partner with data engineering and governance teams to enhance data quality, consistency, and documentation practices.
• Contribute to the development of curated data assets and analytical datasets.
• Promote best practices and encourage continuous learning and innovation.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders through virtual collaboration.
• Travel occasionally for meetings, training sessions, conferences, or company events.
• A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Over 4 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or a similar role.
• Experience in the insurance or financial services sector is highly desired.
• Familiarity with insurance-related data such as quotes, policies, claims, ratings, or customer information is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in auto insurance is an advantage.
• Proficient in predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques.
• Advanced skills in Python and SQL.
• Proficient in using Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience handling large, complex datasets and developing scalable, reproducible analytical solutions.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, Databricks, or similar cloud-based data platforms is a plus.
• Outstanding problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Capability to work independently and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Capacity to remain stationary and work on a computer for 6 to 8 hours daily.
• Frequent keyboarding, mouse operation, and repetitive fine motor tasks required.
• Ability to read and interpret computer screens, documents, and detailed data visualizations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to occasionally move around the office and transport light office materials.
• Ability to lift and move up to 15 pounds on occasion.
