This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the ingestion, curation, and integration of datasets into the centralized public health data platform.

• Create and sustain metadata for datasets and indicators, which includes data dictionaries and documentation regarding changes to data elements and variables.

• Implement data governance standards, encompassing rate and stabilization rules as well as small cell suppression safeguards.

• Utilize data privacy, deidentification, and statistical disclosure limitation methods to safeguard sensitive health information.

• Determine solutions for information access, including data repositories and visual displays aimed at data quality review and decision-making.

• Facilitate data manipulation, report generation, and dashboard development using Power BI, ESRI, Tableau, and related platforms.

• Engage with agency data users and external stakeholders such as hospitals, community coalitions, Tribal Nations, rural health clinics, and academic and research institutions.

• Manage priorities through a weekly project meeting with the client’s program and technical staff.

• Undertake occasional pre-approved travel to the client site.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of ten years of professional experience in data science, data analytics, or a closely related discipline.

• Prior experience supporting a state government data modernization initiative is essential.

• A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Familiarity with statistical methods, data modeling, and analysis software such as SAS or R.

• Experience with Power BI, ESRI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.

• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.

• At least two years of experience in a public health environment.

• Capability to provide technical assistance, training, and support based on relevant principles and standards.

• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel, in both verbal and written forms.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.

• Must reside in the United States; offshore work is not allowed.

• Must be capable of passing a fingerprint background check.

• Full-time schedule, totaling 40 hours per week.

• One-year contract with the potential for up to four one-year extensions.

• Occasional travel to the client site, estimated at two trips annually.

• Travel will be pre-approved and reimbursed at applicable per diem rates.

• Equipment provided by the client.

• Work within the client's secure environment.
