Senior Data Platform Engineer, Commercial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and transformations within Snowflake's Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.

• Integrate data from various sources including CRM, field activities, marketing, and external datasets.

• Manage alterations in collaboration with application owners and data providers.

• Convert commercial requirements and definitions into consistent, reusable data models.

• Develop automated checks to ensure data completeness, freshness, accuracy, and handle schema changes.

• Address data issues proactively before they impact users.

• Monitor workloads and diagnose failures effectively.

• Assist with reprocessing and backfills while implementing sustainable solutions for recurring problems.

• Create dependable data products for analytics, reporting, Streamlit applications, and AI-driven use cases.

• Uphold appropriate access and privacy controls.

• Employ engineering practices, automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

• Collaborate with the Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer for production delivery and support.

• Cross-train to ensure reliable coverage for essential workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of relevant experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or comparable fields—or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

• Practical experience in delivering and supporting production workloads on Snowflake.

• Proficient in SQL and Python.

• Experience in constructing maintainable pipelines, transformations, data quality checks, and operational automation.

• Solid foundation in analytical or dimensional data modeling.

• Experience with reusable semantic models and consistent application of business definitions.

• Hands-on experience in integrating APIs, files, or shared datasets.

• Experience managing schema alterations, incremental processing, reconciliation, reprocessing, and recovery.

• Familiarity with modern transformation practices and tools such as dbt or similar methodologies.

• Experience in automated data quality and regression testing.

• Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative development practices, including peer review, controlled environment promotion, production monitoring, and incident resolution.

• Ability to directly engage with non-technical stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.

• Comfort with screen work, basic hand coordination, focus, clear communication, and occasional movement; reasonable accommodations may be provided.
