Senior Data Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Construct and oversee resilient data pipelines, storage solutions, and data refresh mechanisms utilizing Microsoft Fabric and AWS to facilitate analytics and reporting.

• Design dbt models across source, staging, intermediate, and mart layers, embedding reusable business logic, facts, dimensions, testing, freshness checks, documentation, lineage, and exposures.

• Generate dependable and high-performing datasets and semantic models for Power BI and self-service analytics.

• Establish and uphold data modeling standards that encompass Kimball dimensional modeling, consistent business keys, conformed dimensions, and precisely defined entities.

• Ensure data quality through automated validation, monitoring, alerting, and root-cause analysis.

• Maintain thorough documentation that includes data pipelines, datasets, definitions, assumptions, lineage, and runbooks.

• Facilitate secure and governed access to data while implementing engineering best practices such as version control, code reviews, environment separation, and controlled releases.

• Collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer delivering reliable pipelines and curated datasets for BI.

• Strong practical experience with dbt, encompassing model layering, tests, sources, freshness, documentation, lineage, exposures, and safe model change methodologies.

• Proficient in SQL.

• Skills in Kimball dimensional modeling.

• Familiarity with AWS data services and cloud data engineering patterns.

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and Warehouse.

• Background in data quality, monitoring, operational support, and troubleshooting.

• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
