Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage data engineering initiatives for client data solutions projects.

• Bridge technical gaps and make informed decisions across complex or ambiguous tasks.

• Foster organizational alignment by translating context between teams and assisting less technical colleagues.

• Ensure that large and intricate engineering projects are in line with business objectives.

• Mentor members of the data solutions team, data engineering managers, and other data engineers.

• Collaborate with client teams to remove obstacles and enhance their skills.

• Design data architectures and data warehouses.

• Maintain data quality, scalability, performance, and security standards.

• Recommend and deploy data engineering tools and technologies tailored to client requirements.

• Optimize low-latency data pipelines and create solutions for real-time or micro-batch processing.

• Design, construct, and maintain expansive data infrastructure that integrates various data sources.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, focusing on designing and developing data pipelines.

• Strong proficiency in programming languages, specifically Python and SQL.

• Extensive knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.

• Intermediate to expert skills with data integration/orchestration platforms like Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, or Apache Airflow.

• Significant experience with at least one cloud data warehouse, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.

• Strong expertise in at least one cloud platform, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Experience in mentoring and guiding other engineers.

• Ability to articulate, explain, and promote long-term technical architecture visions and strategies.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

• Professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

• Regularly sit at a desk performing computer-based tasks.

• Must not require employer sponsorship; Velir cannot accept candidates on OPT or CPT.

• Experience with Scala and Rust is a plus but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with streaming solutions is desirable but not required.

• MLOps knowledge is a plus but not essential.
