Senior Engineer, Data Platform and Governance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the administration and governance of Snowflake, encompassing scalable RBAC architecture, functional and access role patterns, network policies, authentication policies, and identity integrations.

• Create secure access frameworks utilizing row-level access policies, dynamic data masking, PII object tagging, and Access History.

• Enhance Snowflake cost efficiency through warehouse sizing, compute optimization, resource monitors, query tagging, observability, and reserved capacity planning.

• Design automated workflows for access provisioning, approval, certification, and deprovisioning.

• Develop and sustain Terraform and Infrastructure as Code configurations.

• Establish governance monitoring and CI/CD capabilities to identify access anomalies, policy violations, and compliance risks.

• Oversee technical execution of SOX controls by automating evidence collection and ensuring audit-ready access reporting.

• Manage AWS account structures, IAM roles, trust policies, S3 Storage Integrations, and cross-account access.

• Administer Tableau, Alation, and other associated enterprise platform tools.

• Promote secure integration across Snowflake, AWS, identity systems, business intelligence tools, and data governance platforms.

• Set up governance foundations for Snowflake Cortex, Agents, and Snowpark ML.

• Collaborate with governance, security, compliance, engineering, and senior stakeholders to establish platform standards and enhance self-service access.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in administering Snowflake environments, including RBAC design, role hierarchy management, access provisioning, row-level security, dynamic data masking, network and authentication policies, resource monitors, and Access History.

• Strong expertise in AWS account administration, IAM roles and trust policies, S3 Storage Integrations, and cross-account access governance.

• Proven experience administering enterprise platforms such as Tableau, Alation, or similar business intelligence and data governance tools, including permissions and metadata governance.

• Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, particularly in automating platform provisioning, access controls, and governance configurations.

• Comprehensive understanding of identity and access management, including scalable RBAC models, federated authentication, Okta, and SCIM integrations.

• Experience in supporting SOX, SOC 2, or similar compliance programs, including audit evidence generation, access reporting, and control documentation.

• Strong Python or comparable scripting skills applied to platform administration, access provisioning, monitoring, or governance automation.

• Proven capability to make technical decisions within complex platform environments and effectively collaborate with governance, security, compliance, and engineering stakeholders.

• Preferred: hands-on administration experience across multiple enterprise platforms such as Tableau, Alation, Collibra, or similar catalog and business intelligence technologies.

• Preferred: experience in implementing GitHub workflows or similar CI/CD capabilities.

• Preferred: a successful history of advancing enterprise governance practices.

• Preferred: familiarity with Snowflake Cortex, Agents, Snowpark ML, or related AI and machine learning capabilities.
